Alok Khorana

Professor of Medicine and Director of the Gastrointestinal Malignancies Program at the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, USA.

Dr Khorana received his medical degree in India; his training included a residency at the University at Buffalo in New York (USA) and a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of Rochester (New York, USA).
His clinical research focuses on predictive factors and drug development in gastrointestinal cancers and cancer-associated thrombosis. He has been funded by grants from the National Cancer Institute, the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, the Porter Family Fund, the Scott Hamilton CARES Initiative and the V Foundation.
Dr Khorana’s research has been published in the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of American Medical Association, the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Blood, the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, Clinical Cancer Research, PLoS One and JAMA Internal Medicine, to name a few. He has also co-authored chapters in multiple textbooks.
