Stravros Konstantinides
Full Professor for Clinical Trials and Medical Director of the multidisciplinary Center for Thrombosis and Hemostasis (CTH) at the University of Mainz (Germany) and also appointed Professor of Cardiology at the Democritus University of Thrace (Greece).
Professor Konstantinides graduated from the Medical School of the Aristotle University in Thessalonica, Greece, in 1987 with honors. He then completed his clinical training in cardiology and defended his thesis at the University of Freiburg (Germany). He has worked as a consultant cardiologist, assistant and associate professor of medicine at the Universities of Freiburg and Goettingen (Germany), and as a research associate and visiting professor at the Department of Vascular Biology, the Scripps Research Institute (La Jolla, CA, USA).
His research has been focusing on basic mechanisms of thrombosis and on the risk stratification and risk-adapted antithrombotic management of venous thromboembolism. He has published over 250 papers in peer-reviewed journals, as well as more than 25 book chapters.
